How to Thrive in a Distracted World with Jones Loflin

Are you focused or merely busy? Jones Loflin sits down with Kevin to reveal the secret of focus, inspired by honeybees. Jones introduces six essential "permissions" that individuals must grant themselves and emphasizes their particular importance for leaders, who not only need to practice these permissions personally but also guide their team members to recognize and adopt them. These permissions include: The Permission to Prioritize – Bees prioritize maintaining the hive before making honey. How can we identify our most critical goals? The Permission to Plan – Similar to how bees prepare for changing conditions, how can we proactively set ourselves up for success? The Permission to Be Unavailable – Constant accessibility can hinder productivity. How can leaders create an environment conducive to deep work? The Permission to Recharge – Bees rest more than they work. What lessons can we draw from this behavior? The Permission to Change – Often, we stick to habits that are no longer beneficial. How can we embrace necessary changes? The Permission to Be Consistent – Although change is crucial, success frequently arises from disciplined, repeated actions. 3 Types of Workplaces - Remote, Hybrid, or In-Office? | The Evolving Workplace

In this special edition of The Evolving Workplace series, Wayne Turmel explores the three dominant work models that have emerged in the post-pandemic world: fully remote, fully in-office, and hybrid work. While the debate continues over which model is best, Wayne takes an objective look at the pros, cons, and realities of each approach. From cost savings and productivity in remote-first organizations to the structure and collaboration of in-office setups—and the often messy compromise of hybrid work—this episode dives deep into what works, what doesn’t, and how leaders can make the best decisions for their teams. Key Takeaways: Remote-First Work: Allows for talent-first hiring without geographical constraints. Increases flexibility and engagement for self-motivated employees. Challenges: branding, measuring productivity, and maintaining team culture. In-Office Work: Facilitates faster communication and relationship-building. Provides structured onboarding and training. Challenges: high costs, limited hiring pool, and less flexibility. Hybrid Work: Offers flexibility employees want while maintaining some in-person collaboration. Challenges: scheduling complexities, proximity bias, and workspace inefficiencies. Context Makes You Smarter - Thoughts from Kevin

Did you know that context makes you smarter? In this episode of Remarkable TV, Kevin Eikenberry shares how understanding context helps you make better decisions and become a more effective leader. Learn three powerful ways to improve your context-awareness: 1️⃣ Ask for different perspectives – Expanding your view can lead to better decisions. 2️⃣ Recognize when "It depends" applies – What follows "it depends" reveals valuable context. 3️⃣ Ask yourself, "What don’t I know?" – Filling in the gaps can lead to smarter choices. She introduces the "Lens Model," a four-part, non-linear framework that includes Look Beyond: Identify and understand hidden patterns that drive organizational behavior. Experiment: Test small changes to discover effective solutions within the system. Nudge: Use subtle shifts to encourage change without creating resistance. Strengthen: Reinforce emerging changes to ensure they become embedded in the organization’s culture.
